Yangfan Jiang's "The North of Gansu Province" photography series captures the mystery and magic of a region that is often overlooked in China. Due to severe desertification and a dry climate, the region is sparsely populated, with young people preferring to move to big cities. Yangfan collaborated with renowned fine art photographers Zhang Kechun, Feng Li, and Muge to explore the region, and what they discovered was a vibrant and playful side that challenged preconceived notions about the area. Despite many man-made scenic spots being abandoned, Yangfan's photographs captured the random arrangements of objective things, elderly cyclists wandering by abandoned dinosaurs, and other playful elements that make the region unique. Through his photography, Yangfan seeks to convey the charm and wit of the Northwest living landscape, showcasing a side of the region that is rarely seen.
