Developed in response to the Ripped exhibition by Dana Nechmad and centred on the acts of ripping and repairing as gestures of breaking and reconstructing; this workshop invites participants to use textile-making as a tool for engaging in a slow, intuitive process of self-exploration and emotional expression.
Through these tactile actions symbolising emotional release and mindful healing, the artist will guide participants by revisiting personal memories and uncovering the narratives woven into their past experiences. This will be achieved through hands-on processes including physical deconstruction and the reconfiguration of textiles. The workshop also aims to create a safe, supportive space where open expression and emotional ease are gently encouraged.
Through the whole session, the participants will be able to understand how textiles can serve as powerful emotional vessels, discover the healing possibilities inherent in textile practices and develop a deeper engagement with the conceptual and material layers of Dana’s work.
