Serena Huang

Serena Huang (黄鹄欣) is a Chinese-born artist based in London, engaging with video, installation, text, sculpture, and performance. Her work constructs fragmented, speculative narratives that inhabit a fictive reality, probing the boundaries of myth and historical memory. By questioning the construction of truth and reimagining hierarchies within material culture, Huang explores the role of theatricality as a tool to bridge disparate elements. Her practice often invites viewers to reflect on the complexities of cultural narratives and the spaces where meaning slips between the factual and the imagined.

Huang earned an MA in Contemporary Art Practice from the Royal College of Art and a BA in Fine Art from Chelsea College of Arts. In 2021, she was selected for Bloomberg New Contemporaries and received the New Contemporaries Digital Fellowship. Her recent exhibitions include a screening at Whitechapel Gallery; a solo exhibition at Mandy Zhang Art and Bloomberg New Contemporaries at South London Gallery and Firstsite (Colchester). Huang is currently an associate lecturer at the University of the Arts London.
