Mandy Zhang Art is delighted to propose a solo booth of Chinese artist Can Sun for the 2025 edition of Photofairs Shanghai. The booth walls will display a series of photographs which build on the artist’s unique practice of sculptural photography. In the middle of the space, a TV monitor laid on the ground parallel to the booth ceiling will display Can’s videos on a loop.
Can’s works challenge the boundaries between photography and sculpture, expanding the possibilities of how we engage with images. The artist’s ability to manipulate materials and light, while retaining an almost sculptural sensibility, invites viewers to reconsider the very nature of photographic representation. Can creates a narrative that is at once intensely personal and universally resonant, capturing the tension between the ephemeral and the eternal.
